The Highland Park Community House is a beautifully renovated historic landmark available for private and for non-profit rentals. Our red brick Colonial-Revival-style house features a spacious ballroom, large living room with bay windows, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, new restrooms and three outdoor garden areas. The Community House is fully air-conditioned and has an accessible entrance and washroom.
An historic treasure of Highland Park and the Community House serves as a beautiful host to a wide array of functions from business meetings, corporate programs, speakers programs, holiday parties, cultural seminars, theater rehearsals, theater productions and fundraising events; to special more personal celebrations such as anniversaries, birthdays, bar/bat mitzvahs and weddings ceremonies and receptions.
Jesse Lowe Smith Heritage Garden
Our Heritage Garden adjacent to the Community House provides an unusual setting for events in spring, summer and early fall. An ever-changing panorama of color, this beautiful retreat is a grand extension of the ballroom and weather permitting allows guests an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the garden along a winding brick pathway.
The garden remains a living heritage to Jesse Lowe Smith, a beloved school superintendent of Highland Park who for more than 30 years guided the education of the children of Highland Park and instilled in them a sense of national and community pride. The garden also is a welcome respite to the community as a place for study, relaxation and enjoyment.
