16th Annual Jazz Series The Highland Park Community House proudly present its 16th Annual Jazz Series featuring renowned artists of the jazz scene. All performances are at 3PM in the intimate cabaret setting of the Highland Park Community House.
Tickets are $10. The Jazz Series always expands and enriches our community's cultural horizons by offering diverse and multi-cultural musical experiences presenting the finest, critically-acclaimed musicians playing the finest jazz. The concerts are popular with families, young adults and seniors alike.
Sunday, March 4, 2012 – 3PM BMR4 Jazz Quartet
The BMR4 is a Chicago jazz quartet that features some of the best jazz players in Chicago, including members of the Buddy Guy, Lonnie Brooks, and Patricia Berber bands. Venues that they play include Andy's Jazz Club, Shaws, Green Mill, Jazz Showcase, Chicago Bulls pre-game concerts, and Navy Pier. Sunday, April 15, 2012 – 3PM Music Institute of Chicago Jazz All-Stars
Led by star trombonist Audrey Morrison, the MIC Jazz All-Stars will swing the house with an artful collection of jazz standards and be-bop excitement. The ensemble includes legendary Chicago performers Jeremy Kahn, piano; Emie Adams, percussion; Art Davis, trumpet and vocalist Wendy Morgan.
Sunday, May 6, 2012 – 3PM Ron Surace Quartet
This jazz quartet is led by Chicago pianist Dr. Ron Surace who performs regulary for television (Ch. 46, Chicago), community centers, fundraisers, and schools/universities. Dr. Surace studied with the great George Shearing, and he was a winner of the Silver Award and the "Outstanding Musical Performance Award," at Downbeat magazine's Musicfest USA National Finals.
