Val Mazzenga – "The Untold Story..." l Mazzenga’s career is one of the most storied in American Photojournalism. His photographs have won more than 200 awards, including five Beck Awards – the Chicago Tribune’s highest accolade. He has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize six times.
Throughout his career, Mazzenga covered major breaking stories on just about every continent on the planet. His work was exhibited nationwide. His assignment have included: the mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana; the Afghan Resistance fighters in Pakistan; Starvation in Africa; the Sikh revolt in India; the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon and refugee Camps in Southeast Asia.
His prize-winning photo essays include work on the late Mother Teresa; the late President Nixon and sports legend, Michael Jordan. He photographed the Amazon; Machi Pichu, the “Lost City” of the Incas; Cambodia’s Angkor Wat; the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.
