| T'ai Chi Ch'uan
Instructor: Barbara Goldfarb
T’ai Chi Ch’uan is an ancient Chinese system of exercise practices today for its health benefits and as a system of self-defense which emphasizes softness and internal power. Often called "meditation in motion," T'ai Chi combines physical, mental, and spiritual development while focusing and claming the mind and unifying the body. It is practiced around the world by men and women of all ages: by athletes and dancers to improve their balance and coordination; as a means of preserving health among the elderly; and as the "supreme ultimate" martial art.
At its highest level, T'ai Chi embodies the principles of the Tao and the wisdom of the East. T'ai Chi offers many health benefits including improved body awareness and agility, improved concentration and focus as well as stress reduction. Classes in the Yang style short form are taught by Barbara Goldfarb, who is certified to teach by Master William C. C. Chen.
A six-week session will be offered beginning Wednesday, October 11; through Wednesday November 15.Classes will be held from 6:00 to 7:00PM. Students may join mid-session at a pro-rated fee.
